Steph McMann is a movement director based in London, working across film, television, theatre and commercials. With a background in contemporary dance and over 17 years of performance experience, she brings a rare combination of movement versatility, psychological sensitivity, and creative precision to every project.

Steph is known for building physical worlds that feel emotionally real, working closely with actors, directors and ensembles to create movement that deepens character, sharpens tone, and expands the visual language of a production. Her process moves fluidly between somatic grounding and bold choreographic choices, supporting performers to access altered states, creature and hyper-human energies, or subtle shifts in physical presence.

Her movement direction credits include The Acolyte (2024), The Sandman (2021–22), His Dark Materials (2019–20), World War Z (2013), and the dance-driven Suspiria (2018), where she collaborated with Damien Jalet. She has also created movement for brands including Meta and Smirnoff, and coached high-profile talent including Brie Larson and Ed Sheeran.

Steph specialises in character-led, psychologically-driven movement and excels in speculative, surreal or high-concept worlds, working with themes such as ritual, transformation, and the hyper-human. She is increasingly sought after for her ability to translate contemporary dance and live performance methodologies into high-end screen and stage contexts. Steph thrives in high-pressure environments, offering fast, intelligent movement solutions that respond to the needs of the moment, without ever losing depth or nuance.

In 2025, along with Alex Reynolds she co-founded Moving Between Worlds, a somatic movement coaching platform offering one-to-one physical development for actors and creative teams. This practice supports her on-set work and offers a unique entry point for actors and directors seeking deeper embodiment and presence in performance.

Steph is currently developing new collaborations across independent film, high-end TV, and theatre. She is available for lead movement direction and actor coaching.
